Using Conterminal on a phone

The mobile menu and its primary items

The trigger is a small square button labeled Menu in the top-right corner of the Conterminal status strip. It exists only below 768 pixels. Tapping it opens a drawer from the right, headed Menu, with a Close button.

The drawer caps the top tier at four items

Under the heading Work you get at most four destinations. That cap is fixed in the navigation model; it is not configurable and it does not grow with your permissions. Everything else you can reach is pushed into collapsible groups below it.

Carrier workspaces keep just Home and Document Review above the work groups. Other workspace types use up to four preferred destinations, filling remaining slots from their navigation order:

Carrier workspaces

Home and Document Review. Container Dashboard and Vessel Tracking are in the expanded Track group directly below.

Importer (BCO) workspaces

Home, Document Review, Appointments & releases, Vessel Tracking.

Broker and forwarder workspaces

Home, Document Review, Vessel Tracking, and then whatever comes next in your navigation — commonly Billing.

Warehouse workspaces

Home, Container Dashboard, Vessel Tracking, and Appointments & releases.

Platform workspaces

Home, LongShorty, Companies, Users.

Everything else lives in groups

Carrier workspaces share the desktop groups: Track, Dispatch, Sell, Recruit, Settings, and Other. Track, Dispatch, and Sell start expanded. Sell includes New Quote, Quotes, and Customers & Prospects for admins and managers, plus Companies and Directory. Quote Settings remains admin-only. Administration and integration tools are kept under Settings; empty groups are hidden. Other tenant workspaces see up to three groups: More work for the rest of your navigation, Workspace for administration and workspace tools, and More for anything left over. Platform workspaces get More work followed by the same platform group names used on the desktop rail, then Workspace.

1. A group opens on its own if the page you are currently on is inside it, so you can always see where you are.
2. Tapping a group header toggles it. The chevron rotates when it is open.
3. Tapping any destination navigates and closes the drawer. You do not have to close it yourself. New Quote asks before clearing a populated editor. Keep editing retains the draft; Start new quote opens a blank editor. Saved quotes are not deleted.
4. Group expansion returns to its defaults when you navigate to another page. The group containing that page opens automatically. Carrier Track, Dispatch, and Sell also open by default. There is no way to pin a group open.

Every route in your workspace appears exactly once across the primary tier and the groups — the model removes duplicates before it builds the list. If a page is genuinely missing from the drawer, it is a permissions problem, not a mobile-layout problem. See why a page shows Access Denied.

Search, account, and sign out

If your workspace has tracking search, it sits at the top of the drawer under the label Search everything, with the placeholder Container, M/B/L, company, terminal…. Carrier workspaces and active external operations workspaces get it; other workspaces do not, and for them there is no search on a phone at all.

Tap an empty search box to reopen up to five recent searches from this device. They are private to your signed-in user and workspace; use Clear to remove that list.

The bottom of the drawer is pinned and does not scroll with the route list. It shows your initials, your name, and your organization, with two half-width buttons: Settings and Sign out.

Section pickers

Screens that stack several panels side by side on desktop do not stack them vertically on a phone. Instead they show one panel and put a labeled dropdown above it. The label tells you which axis you are choosing on, and every option that exists on desktop is in the list — nothing is dropped.

Settings area

On Settings. Always Profile, Security, Email aliases, LFD email scanning, Reporting defaults, and Notifications. AI connections appears only where it is enabled or you already have a connection, Delivery-order review only in forwarder workspaces, and Received confirmation only in trucker workspaces. Scheduling & dispatch appears for carriers using the daily workflow.

Terminal area

On a terminal page. Overview, Cameras, Vessel Schedule, and Empty Returns in a tenant workspace; Rows, Cameras, Profile, and Mappings on the platform terminal screen.

Adapter area

On a LongShorty adapter page. Health, Tenants, Terminals, Mappings, Coverage, and Rules.

Current queue

On Document Review. The desktop footer tab strip becomes a select carrying each queue's count in the option text — for example Delivery Orders (12). It includes Delivery Orders, Quote Requests, Proof of Delivery, Delivery Dates for carriers, Interchange Receipts, Unknown, Recently Confirmed, and Archived. Choosing one navigates.

Current view

The shared tab strip used across operations screens. Below 640 pixels the tabs collapse into one select.

Planning lane

On the classic scheduling board, choose a planning lane and use Move load. In the daily workflow, load cards and day bins stack vertically; use Schedule on a card to choose its date.

In Delivery Dates, tap anywhere on a row to open the POD and date confirmation screen. The date field and actions stay visible below the document. Confirm & Next saves the date, shows which container and date were confirmed, and opens the next POD. Skip for now leaves the date pending. The dispatch board also changes shape on a phone. It replaces its segmented arrangement control with a single select reading By Location, By Consignee, or By Driver, and moves its search into a labeled Search work field inside the filter popover.

Tables become cards

Conterminal does not let you scroll a wide table sideways on a phone. Below 768 pixels the table is replaced — not shrunk — by a list of cards, one per row. The card is a deliberate subset: the fields you need to identify and triage the row, and one primary action.

1. Identity and status come first. The watchlist card leads with the container number, then the status chip, then holds, before it shows Party, Route, and Next. The company directory card leads with the party type, then the company name. The staff card leads with the role badge, then the person.
2. There is exactly one blue button. Each card carries a single full-width primary action — Manage company, Edit profile, View details, Open Company, Open provider, Open timecard. Anything else that row can do is behind the actions menu in the card's top-right corner.
3. Detail is collapsed, not deleted. An invoice line shows its description and total, then a Line details expander holding Quantity, Rate, and FSC. A timecard summary carries More timecard details. A tracking-import review row carries Source and normalized values.
4. Some columns really are desktop-only. The platform company card drops the inline users preview and the timeline; the platform user card drops the full membership and role lists in favor of a one-line summary. If you need those, you need a wider screen.
5. Batch actions dock to the bottom. Where a screen supports selecting several rows, the confirm button is fixed above the home indicator — for example Generate Invoice on the unbilled queue and Confirm 3 rows on a tracking import — so it stays reachable while you scroll the list.

Filters become a sheet

Billing is the screen that uses a real filter sheet. The sidebar full of filter groups is replaced by a Filters button carrying a badge with the number of filters currently applied. Tapping it slides a panel in from the left, titled Filters, containing the same sidebar you would see on a desktop. It closes with a Show Results button along the bottom.

1. The sheet is full-width below 640 pixels and 340 pixels wide above it.
2. The badge counts only the sidebar filters. Status and date-range filters live in the top bar and are not included in that number.
3. Status collapses separately into its own Status select, with All statuses at the top and each status showing its count.
4. If you had already selected several statuses on a desktop, the phone select shows a disabled option reading 3 statuses selected rather than pretending one is chosen. Picking any single status replaces the whole multi-select.

There is no app to install

A home-screen bookmark is still worth making — it saves you typing the address — but treat it as a shortcut and nothing more. Sign-in works the same way it does on a laptop, through an emailed code, and your session lives in the browser you opened the link in. If you request a code on your phone and open the email on your desktop, you will be signed in on the desktop. See signing in and finding your workspace.

Pinch-zoom is deliberately left on. The page declares a device-width viewport that extends into the display cutout area, and it does not lock the zoom level, so you can magnify a dense card or a long container number without fighting the page.

What is not practical on a phone

These are not bugs and they are not going to be fixed by rotating the phone. They are places where the desktop interaction has no honest small-screen equivalent, and Conterminal substitutes something narrower rather than shipping a broken version.

Dragging loads onto drivers

The daily driver sheet uses selection on every screen size: select an unassigned load, then a driver. Assigned lines open Actions. Classic card-grid dragging is disabled below 768 pixels; use its card assignment controls instead.

The Container Dashboard grid

Ordinary dashboard views use shipment cards with row checkboxes, a view selector, and CSV export. Selected rows expose Copy table, Add to scratchpad, and available shipment actions above the list. Scratchpad has a horizontally scrolling table and its own column controls on phones. Create and manage saved dashboard views on a desktop, then pick them on the phone.

Wide reference matrices

The LongShorty rules coverage matrix is an 860-pixel-wide table and stays desktop-only. On a phone you pick one adapter first, then browse its rules as compact cards.

Reading the vessel map

On Water keeps both the map and the vessel list on one naturally scrolling page, but the map is capped at roughly 40 percent of screen height. It is fine for confirming a vessel; it is not a planning surface.

Printing

Batch print builds a merged PDF in an embedded frame and asks the browser to open a print dialog. Mobile browsers frequently ignore that request. Use the Open PDF button and print or share from your phone's own PDF viewer.

Long editing sessions

Tracking-import review, scheduling receiver setup, and similar multi-field screens stage one item at a time on a phone and label every field permanently. They work, but they are built for fixing two or three rows, not for working a backlog.

The realistic phone jobs are: checking whether a container moved, reading a last free day, confirming an appointment, looking up a company or terminal, clearing a small Document Review queue, and answering a question from a driver. Everything that involves comparing many rows at once belongs on a wider screen.
